reichert refractometer

UpUp

This is an absolutely new (new old stock) Reichert (Reichert-Jung) Refractometer. It was made by Cambridge Instruments Inc, Buffalo, NY 14215 (Reichert Scientific Division, supplied by LEICA). It has a sealed screw for calibration. It also includes the manual, an end cover and sealer for resealing the calibration screw. It says "Cat. 10414" on it. It has automatic temperature compensation.

It cost the federal government $1,247.38. You can own it, still new, at a fraction of the or iginal cost. Here's the Federal NIIN information.

It was originally made for measuring blood serum or urine, however there is a general scale with the serum scale on the side. So you can use it to measure any other things, such as wine, fishtank salinity, etc etc. All you need is a conversion table, which are readily available for most commonly sought characteristics. It is compensated for temperature.

The refraction scale is from 0 to 320 (32%), 2 (0.2%) intervals. The image is very clear when viewed against a light. A manual is included.
