For sale is a used military surplus Yale KAL 3 air operated hoist. Its capacity is 3 tons (4000 lbs). 30 feet chain. Has a pendant on what looks like 20 ft hoses. The hoist works (see video).
This hoist is useful where sparks are not desirable or where three phase electricity is not present. Needs compressed air to operate. Parts and service are very easy to obtain. Most parts interchangeable with electric hoists. Offers a mechanical load brake, allowing very precise load control.
I TESTED it by connecting it to my air compressor. It seems to be operating fine without load. I could not perform any further tests due to lack of heavy stuff that I could try lifting. So, it is sold AS IS, exceptthat it is guaranteed to go up and down when connected to compressed air. You need to have it looked at by qualified personnel before placing it in service, for safety reasons.
GUARANTEE: I guarantee that this hoist will move unloaded chain when connected to a compressor. I do not guarantee finer aspects of its performance, that I did not test, so: it is sold AS IS, except that it is GUARANTEED to move UNLOADED chain. There is nothing bad that I know about it that I am not disclosing. I just did not test it in depth.
