For sale is a Leeson 3/4 HP DC motor. It is new and was never used. I tested it, it runs fine.
This is a totally enclosed fan cooled motor, meaning that steel chips and dust will not stick to permanent magnets inside (a common problem with DC motors used on metalworking machines). Would work nicely to convert a drill press to DC.
It has two wires to drive it, and two extra wires going to a contact inside the motor. The contact is normally closed, and opens if the motor overheats. I called Leeson and they said that this overload cannot be wired in series with the motor (you have to wire it in series with the coil of whatever is the relay that drives this motor). You can just leave these two wires hanging, they do not have to be used, but they are a nice feature.
