For sale is one Harris AM-7223 linear power amplifier. This unit has an important flaw, which is that the right selector rotary switch knob is broken off. It is my fault. I am starting the bidding lower, my loss is your gain.
This is the LAST unit I have. I have no more left. It was great while it lasted.
Despite that, the unit is functional and it powers up. The pictures are of the actual unit being sold. No cables are included, manuals on a CDROM are included. The knob whose stem is broke, is also included.

This amplifier was built to withstand severe vibration, extreme temperature ranges etc. It has numerous safety shutdowns, for example if there is not enough cooling air etc. It is also extremely tolerant of the quality of input AC power. It can, with minimal effort, be coupled with other transceivers.

Unlike other Harris amplifiers you see sold on ebay, this item has been tested. The unit powers up. Note that it needs a DC signal applied on the serial cable as a signal to start up. If you simply plug it in and turn on, nothing will visibly happen until you apply said voltage. I will explain what to do if you buy this unit. That's the signal from the Harris transceiver but you can replicate it with any DC supply or simply regular batteries. It does not have to be accurate voltage, my technically inclined 3.5 year old turned it all the way up to 50V and the unit did not notice. All it needs is a "signal" on one of the pins. There is power on the output with my wattmeter agreeing with the wattmeter built into the Harris unit. Unfortunately, I do not have a spectrum analyzer to verify linearity of this amplifier. Included is:
J-1 is the power jack. Pin P is Ground. Pin J is Hot. Pin A is Common. If you look on the inside of the jack you will see the Green, Black and White wires going to these pins J . I have no idea what the other pins are for.
J-2 is the interface cable to the RT-1446. If your going to use the LPA with the RT-1446 just get a straight through DB-25 male to DB-25 female cable from the computer store. Hook J-2 on the AM-7223 to J-8 on the RT-1446.
I have (attempted to) set this amplifier up to run with a different transceiver than the RT-1446. Connectors on J-2 become important when trying to do this. Pin 7 is LPA ON/OFF. Bring High for on, Low for off. Table of pin descriptions. I'm not sure of how the other pins function yet. About 35 to 40 Watts will drive the LPA to 500 Watts. About 45 to 50 Watts will drive it to over 600. More than 50 Watts drive brings no increase in power. I suspect the amp is capable of more than 500 or 600 Watts, but is regulated to maintain the continuous duty cycle rating.
