For sale is a used, TESTED, 5 Horsepower (3.7 kW) rated variable frequency drive. This drive operates on 240 VAC and can run from both single phase and three phase. For single phase application, it can operate motors for up to 3 HP. Includes a very valuable brake resistor for fast stops.

For those people who need to power a three phase machine in their garages from single phase: you can run three phase motors up to 3 HP from 240 volt single phase on this drive. You need to connect incoming wires to terminals R and T. Make sure to keep the blue wires connecting R to R1 and T to T1. Connect your three phase motor to terminals U, V, and W. Press START and it will start. Press STOP and it will stop.
VFDs have several inherent advantages over phase converters. They are quiet, do not use energy when not running, do not draw excess current on startup, allow deceleration, easy reversal of motors, and control of motor speed.
Please read the manual (below), it explains how to set fine parameters such as acceleration, deceleration times, frequency, how to add remote switch and potentiometer for convenient mounting, etc.
