For sale is a used, TESTED, 5 Horsepower (3.7 kW) rated variable frequency drive Toshiba VFS7-2037UPL. (model VF-S7, 200V class, 3.7 kW max output, includes control Panel). This drive operates on 240 VAC and can run from both single phase and three phase. For single phase application, it can operate motors for up to 3 HP. Has torque boost for hard starting loads (like compressors, conveyors), and a bazillion of other features.
This drive is missing the bottom panel. It does not affect its operation, but you need to make sure that it is mounted safely so that its terminals are isolated from people.
Includes a valuable potentiometer for easy speed control.
See below for the manual (PDF document).
For those people who need to power a three phase machine in their garages from single phase: you can run three phase motors up to 3 HP from 240 volt single phase on this drive. You need to connect incoming wires to terminals L1 and L2. Connect your three phase motor to terminals U, V, and W. Press RUN and it will start. Press STOP and it will stop. Please do the world a favor and read the manual. Do not connect incoming power to terminals U, V, W, you will fry this drive. Connect incoming wires to L1 and L2 ONLY.
VFDs have several inherent advantages over phase converters. They are quiet, do not use energy when not running, do not draw excess current on startup, allow controlled, quick deceleration, timed acceleration, easy reversal of motors, and control of motor speed. I speak from experience. Even though I made my own phase converter, to run my three phase welder, and plasma cutter, I run my my Bridgeport Mill using a similar VFD, to realize the above mentioned advantages. It runs great.
Please read the manual (below), it explains how to set fine parameters such as acceleration, deceleration times, frequency, how to add remote switch and potentiometer for convenient mounting, etc.
If you do not like this drive for any reason, within five days of receipt, you can return it to me (in its original packaging) for a refund of your purchase price. You pay shipping both ways.
