This is the second and the last unit that I am selling.
This is a military surplus Polarad / Rohde Schwarz 309 synthesized signal generator. Synthesizes modulated signal in the GHZ range (10-18 GHZ). Has touch key controls: you can set precise frequency, pulse width, modulation mode (AM, FM and pulse). Has storage facility to remember settings (multiple storages). So you can quickly alternate different sets of settings. Comes with a nifty pullout reference chart.
This a Mercedes Benz of signal generators, a product of German perfectionism. The output signal has high stability and spectral purity.
The serial number of this item is 2-261.
This unit has an IEEE 488 connector in the back and can be remotely controlled. A reference chart for the command protocol is provided.
Testing: due to lack of gigahertz band equipment, I was only able to give this unit limited testing. The unit powers up. All display elements work. I was able to change all relevant settings (carrier frequency, modulation frequency, level, pulse width, etc etc). I did not test the modulated signal output, although I would be surprised if it did not work. I was, however, able to test the modulation signal with my oscilloscope.
The unit is in a good shape cosmetically.
Local inspection by serious buyers is welcome. The item is located in Lisle, IL (25 miles west of Chicago). Bring your own test equipment.
