Granite City ==> sextant 1

UpUp

This is a working US Navy sextant by Weems and Plath. This one is not a replica. It was made to be used, not collected (as opposed to cheap beautiful brass sextants sold "NOT FOR NAVIGATION"). This one was made for navigation.

Before you use it to navigate your boat, have it checked with a qualified expert to determine angular corrections. An older result of such inspection with corrections is included with this sextant.

If you plan long voyages, relying on an electrical piece of equipment like a GPS in a saltwater environment is dangerous and you need a reliable, time tested backup. This Weems and Plath sextant can be used as a backup, it is less accurate than a GPS, but far more reliable.

I bought actually two of these sextants, and I will probably keep one for myself, as I like boating. I would very much like to have this sextant be used by a serious voyager, not someone who just wants to display it on his wall. But I will gladly ship it to any highest bidder. :)

It comes with cleaning equipment and a prismatic lens. The box shows a lot of use, but the sextant seems in good shape. The Navy has very high standards of handling sextants.
