UpUp

This is a military surplus ultrasound bond tester (BONDTESTER) S2B Sondicator, by Sperry Systems. This unit was rated by the military to be in condition "A" , which is their highest rating.

This unit can be used to find anomalies, impact damage and hidden cracks in objects, as well as faults in bonding (disbonds). Frequency 25 KHz. Useful, for instance, if you are building boats or making laminates. Is used mostly in testing airplane equipment. Has high precision control knobs for controlling amplitude and phase.

This unit cost the feds over $4,600, it is still in excellent condition, with one important exception: the batteries should be presumed to need replacement. It is a serious mil spec unit, not cheap consumer stuff. :NIIN:

I was able to test this unit somewhat: it does power up and produces a very faint high pitched sound. The knobs and amplitude needles work. I also was able to test the transceiver output with my Tek 465 oscilloscope, it produces a 25 KHz triangular wave in the ultrasound part of the sound spectrum. Did not test the receiver.

This unit comes with a transceiver probe, a one page manual and two drop in battery units, as well as the original sling. Ships without a power cord.
