For sale is a single phase (can be used in your garage with 220v), two stage Champion compressor with a 5 HP Baldor motor. This is a very high quality four cylinder, two stage pump that can pump 20 CFM from a 5 HP motor. This compressor is extremely quiet when running. The tank does not leak.
I did some very minor service for this compressor, such as changing out the start capacitors, which were bad, as well as bearing replacement. I used quality bearings from McMaster Carr, not cheap no name stuff. I also changed oil in the pump. Both ends now have shielded packed bearings and do not require periodic lubrication. The motor runs very smoothly.
I also installed a new 3.5" diameter (huge!) pressure gauge graduated up to 200 PSI.
The pressure switch, is a new, 5 HP rated, pressure switch by Furnas, purchased brand new.

I did paint this compressor. I did very thorough degreasing and cleaning prior to painting and used expensive oil based paint. A picture of the compressor prior to painting is shown in this auction.
The story of this compressor is that someone bought it a long time ago and tried to convert to single phase, but could not figure out how to wire the Baldor motor. It sat for many years in a heated garage until I bought it from that person. I spent quite a bit of time making sure that it runs perfectly. here are some pictures of how it looked originally and how I restored it.
The tank was left pressurized overnight and retained 100% of the pressure.
On the output, the compressor has a brass Apollo valve rated up to 600 PSI.
This compressor is missing a belt guard. It is your responsibility to ensure safety of this compressor and its safe installation with respect to that.
The casters are not included. Tank, pump, motor, gauge and pressure switch are included.
This pump's performance and longevity are far beyond what you can find at home improvement stores, it is also much quieter due to quality components, massive flywheel and slow speed. Baldor motors are prized for their reliability and ease of maintenance.
I am not aware of any problems with this compressor besides the missing belt guard. I will give you an unconditional ONE MONTH return privilege, but you pay all shipping and delivery expenses.
Shipping it would be uneconomical, but I can deliver within Chicagoland for $30 plus $3 per loaded mile (my time is worth something and I am not about to waste several hours for free).
